What is a Customized Silk Saree?

A customized silk saree is specially created just for you, featuring your personal photos, memories, or even your signature woven into the fabric. It is not a readymade product available in stores but a one-of-a-kind creation. Each saree is thoughtfully designed and crafted based on your inputs, making it unique and deeply personal. No one else will have a similar saree, making it truly exclusive.

Is the saree designed based on customer preferences?

Yes, your saree can be designed as per your preferences. We offer six beautifully crafted templates where your photo, name, or signature is added. If you want a fully custom design, that's possible too---it just requires more time and planning. Our design team works closely with you during the consultation to ensure your ideas are reflected.

Can I return a customized saree?

Unfortunately, customized sarees are not returnable. Since they are made specifically with your photos, names, or signatures, they cannot be reused or resold. Each piece is unique and created only for you, which makes a return or exchange impossible. We advise confirming all details during consultation before placing your order.

What are consultation charges? Are they refundable?

Consultation charges are ₹999, which covers a design discussion with our expert team to understand your vision. During this session, we guide you through the process, address your doubts, and help finalize the design. Once your order is placed, this fee is fully deducted from your total saree price, making it a part of your investment.

Is it made on a handloom or power loom?

The saree is woven on a slow-speed power loom, operating at less than 20 picks (threads) per minute. This speed closely resembles traditional handloom weaving in terms of finish and texture. Though it's technically a power loom, the craftsmanship and detailing give it a handcrafted feel. This method allows better accuracy when weaving photos.

How long does one customized saree take to make?

Creating one designer saree takes around 25 days. The process includes 7 days for design, 5 days for preparing silk threads, 6 days for loom setup, and 5 days for the actual weaving. Each step is carefully executed to ensure high-quality output. Custom sarees require patience due to the precision involved.

What's the quality rating of this saree?

On a scale of 1 to 10, we proudly rate it 10/10. The saree is crafted using the finest silk and zari threads, with your personal photos woven into it. It's elegant, exclusive, and made with great attention to detail. Wearing this saree will make your special day even more memorable.

Why is the customized saree expensive?

These sarees are not mass-produced. Each one involves custom design, silk and zari thread preparation, loom setup, and careful weaving of over 47,000 threads. The entire process is labor-intensive and personalized for one customer only. The time, effort, and exclusivity involved contribute to the cost.

Is the customized saree value for money?

Yes, it is definitely value for money. When you see your photo or your partner's photo woven on your saree, it becomes a timeless memory. It's more than clothing---it becomes an heirloom. Years later, your family and children will cherish it as a symbol of your story.

How can I identify a pure silk saree?

Look for the Silk Mark label, which is a government-certified sign of authenticity. Pure silk feels warm to the touch, slightly coarse, and has a natural sheen. It does not feel overly smooth or slippery like artificial silk. A simple burn test (done professionally) can also confirm its purity.

What is the difference between pure silk and art silk?

Pure silk is a natural fiber made from silkworm cocoons, known for its durability, softness, and rich look. Art silk (short for artificial silk) is made from synthetic materials like rayon or polyester. It's cheaper and looks similar but lacks the strength and texture of real silk. Pure silk lasts longer and holds more cultural and sentimental value.

Which silk sarees are best for weddings?

The most popular wedding silk sarees are Kanchipuram, Banarasi, and Paithani. These sarees are known for their luxurious fabric, traditional motifs, and beautiful zari borders. They add grandeur to wedding attire and remain timeless across generations. Brides often choose them for their elegance and rich cultural heritage.

How do I care for a silk saree?

Always dry clean your silk saree to maintain its shine and texture. Store it in a cotton or muslin cloth, away from sunlight to prevent fading. Do not hang it for long periods as it may stretch. Refold it every few months to avoid creases and tearing along the fold lines.

Why are silk sarees costly?

Silk sarees are made from natural silk fibers, which are delicate and require skilled labor to weave. Some sarees also use real zari (gold or silver-coated thread), further increasing the cost. The weaving process is time-consuming and meticulous. Their elegance, tradition, and durability justify the price.

How do I drape a silk saree so it stays in place?

Use a tight-fitting petticoat and neatly pleat the saree. Secure each pleat with safety pins, especially at the shoulder and waist. Lightly iron the saree to add stiffness, which helps maintain its structure. Proper draping ensures comfort and a graceful look.

Can silk sarees be worn casually?

Yes, lightweight silks like Tussar, Mysore, or Chanderi are perfect for everyday wear, office, or small functions. They offer elegance without being too heavy or flashy. These sarees are breathable, soft, and easy to manage. Pair them with minimal accessories for a graceful, everyday look.

What are the types of silk used in sarees?

Popular silk types include Mulberry (finest quality), Tussar (coarse texture), Muga (golden shine), Eri (soft and warm), and Matka (raw finish). Each silk type varies in texture, shine, and region of origin. Your choice depends on occasion, climate, and personal style.

Are silk sarees suitable for all seasons?

Silk sarees are breathable but can feel warm, making them ideal for cooler climates or air-conditioned venues. Lightweight silks are better for summer or daytime events. Sarees like Mysore silk and Tussar are comfortable year-round. Choose the right weave and weight based on the season.

What is a Silk Mark Certificate?

The Silk Mark is issued by the Silk Mark Organisation of India to ensure that the product is made of 100% pure silk. It is a trusted symbol of authenticity and quality. Always look for this label when purchasing high-value silk sarees. It safeguards against imitations.

How long does a silk saree last?

With proper care, a pure silk saree can last for decades. Many families preserve them as heirlooms, passing them down through generations. The quality of silk actually improves with age when maintained well. A well-cared-for saree is an investment that holds cultural and emotional value.

What is zari work in sarees?

Zari is fine metallic thread, traditionally made from gold or silver, used in weaving decorative patterns. It adds richness, shine, and festive charm to sarees. High-quality zari work reflects skilled craftsmanship. It is especially popular in bridal and festive wear.

Can I wash a silk saree at home?

It's not advisable to wash a silk saree at home. Silk is delicate and can lose its sheen or shrink with improper cleaning. Always opt for dry cleaning, especially for the first few washes. If absolutely necessary, hand-wash gently with cold water and mild soap.

What makes Kanchipuram silk sarees unique?

Kanchipuram sarees are woven from pure mulberry silk and real zari in Tamil Nadu. They feature contrasting borders, bold colors, and traditional motifs like temples and peacocks. The saree body and border are often woven separately and then joined seamlessly. They are highly durable and festive.

Is a silk saree suitable for office wear?

Yes, especially light and plain varieties like Mysore silk or Tussar silk. These are elegant, lightweight, and suitable for day-long wear. Choose subtle colors and minimal patterns for a professional look. They provide a classy yet comfortable outfit for work.

How to store silk sarees long-term?

Wrap silk sarees in a cotton or muslin cloth to allow the fabric to breathe. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from moisture and sunlight. Refold them every few months to prevent creasing. Do not use plastic covers as they trap moisture.

What is Tussar silk?

Tussar silk is produced from wild silkworms and has a rich texture with a natural golden tint. It is slightly coarser than mulberry silk but offers a unique earthy charm. Tussar is lightweight and ideal for both casual and festive wear. It's especially popular in eastern India.

Can silk sarees cause allergies?

Pure silk is hypoallergenic and rarely causes irritation. However, synthetic blends or harsh dyes might cause allergic reactions for sensitive skin. If you have skin sensitivities, always check if the saree is 100% pure and naturally dyed.

What occasions are best for silk sarees?

Silk sarees are perfect for weddings, festivals, religious functions, and formal events. Their rich texture and traditional appeal make them ideal for celebrations. With the right styling, even simpler silk sarees can be worn for parties or family gatherings.

Custom Silk Sarees

Are the photos on the customized saree printed or woven?

The photos on the saree are woven using zari and silk threads, not printed. This weaving technique ensures durability and gives the design a premium texture. The threads are carefully aligned to replicate your image in intricate detail. The woven image becomes a permanent part of the saree, unlike prints that may fade over time.

Does the photo appear on the entire saree?

No, the photo is typically woven into the pallu (the decorative end portion) of the saree. This keeps the saree elegant while making the image the highlight. However, if desired, we can also weave your name or signature into the saree's body or borders. This allows for customization without overwhelming the design.
